Microsclerotherapy
Spider Vein Treatment
What is microsclerotherapy?

Microsclerotherapy is the treatment of red and purple spider veins on the legs using injections.

How does microsclerotherapy work?

Microsclerotherapy involves injecting a solution called Polidocanol  directly into the affected veins, causing irritation to the vessel walls.

These walls then stick together, preventing blood flow through the vein, effectively shutting it down.  The vessel is then reabsorbed by the body and replaced by connective tissue.

Does microsclerotherapy work straight away and how long does it last?

Results can be seen as soon as 2 weeks after treatment, but can take up to 8 weeks to clear.

More than one treatment at 6 weekly intervals may be necessary for best results.

Treatment can last up to 2 years or more, however the body will create new vessels, which may require a touch up treatment.

Common Considerations:

Before treatment  a full consultation is required to determine whether sclerotherapy is the right treatment for you.

You may be required to visit a Vascular Surgeon for a scan prior to treatment.

After treatment compression stockings should be worn immediately for 12 hours, then they may be removed and washed.

You will still need to wear your compression stockings daily for a full week minimum.  JLNA has a range of compression hosiery for sale or you are welcome to bring your own if you have had a previous treatment.
