Botulinum Toxin
Reduce the look of lines and wrinkles
Prevent further lines and wrinkles
Botulinum Toxin is currently the most popular treatment in appearance medicine.
The muscles in our face differ from those in our bodies as they only move skin, to create expression and communication.
For those of us who are very expressive with our faces when we speak, this muscle movement can create both dynamic and static lines and wrinkles on our face over time.
Botulinum toxin treatment can reduce these lines and wrinkles, and prevent new wrinkles developing.
What is Botulinum toxin?
Botulinum Toxin is a neurotoxin that is produced and sterilised in a lab.
It has been used for many decades in the medical industry to treat multiple conditions.
Commonly referred to as "Botox" (Brand Name only)
however JLNA uses Xeomin and Dysport.
Both Xeomin and Dysport are FDA approved for use in the face, neck and underarms.
How does botulinum toxin work?
When injected in tiny amounts, botulinum toxin interrupts the normal process of neurotransmission, effectively blocking the nerve signals that control muscle activity. This causes the muscle to stop moving, relaxing the skin and decreasing the wrinkling effect.
Does botulinum toxin work straight away and how long does it last?
After your treatment the product will start to work within 3-5 days. You will notice movement becoming less in the treated area.
At 14 days the treatment is at peak effect. We offer a follow up appointment at this time to check that you are happy with your treatment.
At this follow up you have the opportunity to discuss with your nurse if a top up is appropriate. The treatment result will then last for 3 months.
